Leadership & Team Building for Adults

Leadership & Team Building for Adults

Whether you are looking for something to complement your business retreat or a way to improve your employee's processes, ExCEL can create a program to build toward your goal. Through targeted team development sessions, we empower managers to lead, employees to collaborate as teammates, and individuals to realize their leadership potential.

The ExCEL program uses the outdoors to present everyday challenges in new ways to help people learn how to better overcome them. Teamwork, communication, trust, problem solving and other common words take on real meaning in unique and memorable team challenges

What programs do we offer?

Typically programs are either a half-day, a full-day, or multi-day. Programs can be onsite at the 4-H Center or offsite at your school, church, business, etc. Programs are very flexible and can be accommodated to most sized groups.

With half-day programs, groups spend a morning or an afternoon working together through initiatives (group challenges). These range from mental puzzles to overcoming our 12-foot team wall.

Initiatives are fun challenges that increase self-awareness, problem-solving, communication, trust, and team morale. All initiatives are customized to the group's wants and needs. Times may also be adjusted to fit the schedule of the group.

Participant moving across the "floating bridge" on the ropes course In a full-day program, groups spend the morning working together through a variety of team initiatives and group challenges designed to strengthen communication, critical thinking, trust, and collaboration.

These ground-based experiences help participants build relationships, develop confidence within the team, and establish a strong foundation before progressing into more advanced challenges.

In the afternoon, many groups choose to experience our challenge course. Suspended 20 feet in the trees, the course features 20+ interconnected obstacles with varying levels of difficulty, allowing participants to navigate their own path through the experience. While many elements encourage individual growth and confidence, several partnered obstacles require communication, support, and teamwork to complete successfully.

The challenge course is intentionally designed to reinforce the concepts introduced during the morning initiatives, helping teams apply lessons learned in a dynamic and memorable environment.

Your company’s team (composed of 8-10 individuals) will have the opportunity to compete in a series of fun team building challenges, all structured around a points system. These challenges are designed to be physically engaging without being overly strenuous. Each team will rotate through 8-10 activities, each lasting approximately 15 minutes. One of our team facilitators will be present to guide the group, addressing any questions or concerns.

The activities throughout the course may include canoeing, archery, water balloon launching, as well as creative initiatives such as Marble Pass, Trolleys, Bull Ring, and Photo booth. Effective communication, problem-solving, and having fun are all key components contributing to a team's success! This program can be replicated off-site as well.

The experience reinforced the importance of self-awareness, communication, and adaptability while providing practical tools I can immediately apply to better support my team.” - Summit Utilities Participant

“Since 2018, ExCEL staff have facilitated team building and leadership development activities for the Conway Area Leadership Institute. These experiences encourage participants to challenge their comfort zone and provide opportunities to form meaningful connections with their classmates.
