Drop off and Pick up Process
Vine Center Address: #1 Four-H Way, Little Rock, AR 72223
Class is from 9 am to 2:30 pm. No drop off before 8:45am.
Drop Off: Each car will drop their students off at the canopy on the western side of the Vine Center.
Pick Up: Each child will be picked up at the same canopy as drop off. When you pull up, please tell the attending employee who your child is so they can be radioed to your car.
Drivers: Students who are driving themselves will drive up to the canopy, check in, and then park in the gravel parking area closest to Feland Hall.
Inclement Weather Policy
In the event of winter weather (snow or ice), the following is our policy:
- If the Pulaski County Special School District is CLOSED, we are CLOSED.
- If the Pulaski County Special School District has a two-hour delayed start, SEEK will begin at 10 am.
- We will have 1 potential make-up day if needed. Make up days will take place March 11, 12, and 14, 2025.
Dress for the Weather
Our goal is to have your child doing and experiencing as much as we can possibly squeeze into 12 weeks. With that in mind, please remember to have your child dress for the weather. We recommend layering, so that students can be comfortable indoors or outside.
Communication
- WEEKLY PARENT LETTER: To keep you informed about our classes, your child's teacher will send a weekly email or letter to let you know what we have been doing in class.
- Join SEEK Family Facebook Group: On Facebook, search "4-H SEEK". This is a great way to keep up with the latest SEEK information. We will post pictures of students, reminders, and upcoming events. It is also a great way to connect with other parents. The group is private so you must send a request to join.
- SEEK email list: You can now join our Constant Contact email list to receive announcements. Register for the email list here.
- Text alerts: You can sign up for Text Updates. This is typically used for inclement weather. Register for the text alerts here.
Lunch Plan
Students must either bring a sack lunch each day or purchase a meal plan. The 12-week meal plan is $132 and will include a meal, a desert, and a drink. All students should bring a reusable water bottle to be used during the day. Sack lunches will be stored in the student's personal area, so consider sending items that do not need to be kept cold or warmed. To order the 12-week plan, contact our office at 501-821-6884. If a child forgets a lunch, we will purchase a lunch from the center and charge the parents $11.00.
Do Not Bring
We ask that your child not bring any of the following items to class: knives, firearms, matches or lighters, or live animals (unless approved by the teacher).
Cell Phones
Cell phones may only be used before and after school, and during lunch at SEEK. All all other times, phones must be turned off and put away. Violations will result in the phone being forfeited to the teacher until the end of the day. Repeated violations may result in the student no longer being able to bring phone to SEEK.
Illness and Medications
If your child has been ill, please make sure that they have been fever-free for 24 hours, without use of fever reducing medications, before returning to SEEK classes.
If a student gets sick at SEEK:
- Individuals displaying symptoms will be isolated from the remaining students.
- Parents/guardians will be notified and required to pick the student up.
If prescribed medication is required for other conditions, you may send it with your child, but staff will not dispense medicines. The student must be old enough to self-administer.
Insurance
Your personal medical insurance will be used in the event of an emergency.
Code of Conduct
There are our expectations for student's behavior during SEEK. Please read over this section with your child and explain any part that may be unclear to your child.
- I will respect my fellow students.
- I will take care of my own things and respect the property of others, including 4-H Center property.
- I will listen to my teachers and follow their instructions.
- I will follow safety rules and try to help keep my fellow students safe.
- I will do my best to be an example to follow for my fellow students.
Consequences
Discipline is not a one-stop-shop. We will review each incident and respond accordingly. Possible consequences include but are not limited to:
- Teacher and staff meet with student and parents, and appropriate consequences are agreed on.
- Student suspended one day.
- Student permanently suspended with no refund.
